Opinionz from Lackey: Top 5 Pound for Pound

This is an editorial blog by Justin Lackey.

1. Georges St. Pierre
While it is a very close battle, I believe that if anyone deserves to be called the pound for pound champion, it is Georges St. Pierre. Despite his more than revenged loss to Matt Serra, Georges St. Pierre's recent dominance is unmatched, even against "The Spider."

2. Anderson Silva
Even with Anderson Silva's record of the most consecutive wins in the octagon, "the Spider" falls short of the number one position because of the lack of authority in his latest wins over Thales Leites and Patrick Cote. Although we cannot expect every fight to be a flash knockout or first round submission, competition is stiff these days.

3. Fedor Emelianenko
Fedor is perhaps the most transcendent fighter in mixed martial arts today. While his last two fights have been very dominant, both Arlovski and Sylvia proved to be past their prime as both fell in the first round to unranked opponents. Is it fair to judge Fedor for his recent opponents losses? Maybe not. It may add to his glory considering any fighter no matter how experienced or talented can fall at any time to anyone. But as far as we have seen, Fedor is as spotless as they come.

4. Lyoto Machida
The new champion of the light heavyweight division. Many predicted this moment for a long time. In his undefeated career of 15-0, 4 former UFC champions have fallen to Lyoto. Perhaps more amazing than his elusive style and hair raising mystique is his size compared to others in the division. I don't see Machida falling for a long time. Ladies and Gentlemen, in the words of Joe Rogan, "Welcome to the Machida era!"

5. Miguel Torres
Perhaps the most overlooked superpower in the mixed martial arts world today, Torres recently won an entertaining five round decision over bantam weight star Takeya Mizugaki. The 37-1 title holder has spent five years dismantling the 135 pound division. Miguel's next title defense against Brian Bowles will come into fruition in August.

Torres being overlooked is exactly F*cking right. You f*cking overlooked him yourself.

Just because a division does not get publisism doesn't mean it is any different. Imagine if GSP was 35-1 tearing up the WW's.

1 Fedor
2 Torres
3 Silva
4 Lyoto
5 GSP
