Three weeks of UFC Primetime produced a lot of anticipation for the UFC 94 super bout. It gave spectacular insight into the lives of the two fighters. Unfortunately for Penn, It was an opportunity for him to take the main stage for the attention show. His absolutely disgraceful comments in each episode brought him debate and drama amongst fans week after week.
"GSP, saying he's not a quitter, but I was right there watching him quit. When Matt Serra was beating his ass, I saw him turn to the side and tap the mat. You tap from strikes, you're a little b*tch, that's what I think," BJ Penn stated proudly in the second episode of the show. This was not the only outlandish statement made by Penn. In the third episode, "The Prodigy" told George's trainer Firaz Zahabi to lie down in his bed, take his shoes off, take about twenty minutes, and "go f*ck" himself.
Georges is a humble guy, but he showed his ferociousness in the ring as he ruthlessly dominated BJ for four rounds of hitting, slamming, and pounding for the most superior and controlling victory of GSP's career. B.J. sat there and took it, harder than Serra took it in his rematch with Pierre. At the end of round four, Penn was beaten into submission, and he told the doctor to throw in the towel. That is when BJ was forced to swallow his own words. How did they taste? Georges St. Pierre officially won the match at 5:00 of Round 4 via corner stoppage.
The question is, is it worse to tap , or to give up in attempt to save five more minutes of exhaustion? To save my own reputation from belonging to an ignorant jerk, I will say that I am unsure of the medical state of the lightweight champion after the fourth round.
“I knew I broke him mentally after the first round,” the welterweight champion said in the post fight news conference. “That was my game plan and I stuck to it.”
St. Pierre did a fine job of carrying out his agenda. Penn looked on in utter disappointment. I have never seen a fighter look so disgruntled after a loss. Who can blame him? Strong words bring high expectations.
